Pediatric, Pre and Post-Natal Care for Your Growing Family
Chiropractic Care is a safe, gentle and drug-free option for pregnant individuals, infants and families to achieve health and wellness
Our Approach
We believe in the incredible ability of the human body to self-heal and self-regulate. Accumulated stress on the spine from pregnancy, the birthing process and day to day life can impact nerve function and overall health for both parent and child.
By addressing the root causes of neurological dysfunction and dysregulation, we empower your family to heal, enjoy life, and feel lasting results.
Pregnancy Care
We encourage women and parents-to-be to receive Chiropractic care before becoming pregnant and throughout their pregnancy.
During pregnancy, the body undergoes incredible changes and is a very important time for parent and child. Postural, physiological, hormonal and emotional changes can start to impact spine and nerve function.
Chiropractic adjustments are specifically tailored to remove neuro-biomechanical stresses in your body called subluxations. Subluxations alter spinal movement and negatively impact how your brain maps your body and it’s functions.
-
Changes in weight bearing, gait, pelvic tilt, in addition to emotional and chemical stresses on the body can affect pelvic movement patterns.
-
Stride becomes wider and more broad activating new muscles and pulling on ligaments. A change in gait affects joint mobility and requires adaptation to accommodate.
-
As the body prepares for birth it produces more relaxin. Relaxin causes ligaments and joints to relax . This makes them more prone to dysfunction or aggravation of underlying issues.
-
In just 9 months the body undergoes dynamic postural changes. Belly growing, increased breast size, gait changes and anterior tilting of the pelvis demand a large amount of adaptation and can impact spinal and neurological function.
-
Increased fetal movement puts pressure on the back, ribs, diaphragm and internal organs.
-
Increase in weight bearing and anterior tilt puts pressure on the pubic symphysis and can causes SPD.
-
Uterine ligaments including the broad ligament, transverse, uterosacral and round ligaments can pull and put pressure on the spine an associated tissues.
The round ligament is of specific interest of chiropactors and a specific websters technique is used to aid in pain associated with it.
Pediatric Care
Chiropractic isn’t just for adults. Dr. Jones is trained to analyze, identify and correcting spinal subluxations in babies and children.
Physical, chemical and emotional stress can impact the nervous system in utero, through the birthing process and throughout childhood.
By addressing these stresses early on, we aim to help grow healthy and regulated children.
We encourage parents to have their children checked after birth and throughout their infancy and childhood to ensure optimal movement and function of their growing bodies.
-
Interventions are sometimes unavoidable. Traction, suction, C-section and manual maneuvering are utilized.
These interventions alongside stresses in utero can put affect the upper cervical spine the brain and the brachial plexus.
-
A child’s brain is 60% developed by age 3 and the spine doubles in size from birth to age 2. An immense amount of neurological and physical development happens during this time.
-
Proper activation of muscles, palate position and engagement of neurological reflexes is needed to latch and feed appropriately.
-
Hitting motor milestones is vital for proper development of spinal curves and integration of primitive neurological reflexes.
-
Oral tethered tissue can impact feeding, latching and fussiness and affect neural tension. We work with local dentists to help support proper healing and unwinding.
-
Persistent head tilt is a sign of dysfunction and can lead to imbalances in cranial bone development and head shape.
-
Subluxation can overload the nervous system and can cause imbalance in the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system.
